About Easter

The Easter holiday is the greatest and most important Christian holiday, a day when believers celebrate the central event of Christianity, Christ’s resurrection. This holiday emphasizes the very resurrection because Jesus died on the cross and on the third day he resurrected. With his resurrection, a new order had begun for all christened people, because they had become stakeholders of Jesus’ destiny. Easter sends out a message of death being conquered and calls out to joy bringing faith and hope amongst people.
Christians celebrate Easter by participating in mass celebrations in church, continuing to celebrate Easter in each other’s homes with old folk and modern Easter customs such as Easter eggs (coloured eggs), blessing the Easter meal and alike. Numerous symbols and customs that are linked to the Easter holiday vary from country to country, but in fact in majority the common custom is colouring eggs – that has become the symbol of Jesus’ resurrection, specifically towards a new and awaken life. Coloured eggs besides a symbol of life were also a traditional gift, and often were, painted with romantic motifs, gifts that people in love gave each other.
Frequent Easter symbols are rabbits and chicks, and also numerous pastries. Even if they have a pre-Christian background linked to the awakening of nature, these customs are significantly conditioned by the celebration of Easter and presently remind us of Easter.
