For the celebrations of the end of the year 2012, the Office des Timbres is releasing two “Christmas” stamps because of high demand.
The first, with a face value of 0.60 + 0.05 € is for national mail whereas the second, with a value of 0.85 + 0.10 €, is for franking mail sent to other European countries.
The stamps, of a graphic design, were created by the artist Michel Olmic.
Michel Olmic
was born in 1952 in Leopoldville (former Belgian Congo). He studied plastic arts and illustration in Brussels. Michel Olmic works at Editions Dupuis (Brussels) where he creates magazine covers. For his entire professional career, he has created in Europe and the United States a large range of quality products, including a clothing line (Schiesser), collections of porcelain ( Thomas-Rosenthal), puzzles (Milton Bradley), and more than 100 Christmas cards. As early as 2002, a first stamp for the Office des Timbres of Luxembourg was created with an illustration by Michel Olmic. In 2004, in the category of “Europa Vacation”, Olmic won the prize for the most beautiful stamp of Luxembourg for his illustration representing the Müllerthal region.
