About Definitive Stamp - Coat of Arms

The first reinforced concrete bridge in Estonia, the Tartu Freedom Bridge, opened on January 4, 1926 and was built between 1924 and 1926. The bridge was 64.5 metres long and 13.6 metres wide, featuring a 10-metre motorway and two sidewalks. Stairways and platforms for pedestrians were constructed at both ends of the bridge, and the riverbanks were reinforced. The construction of the Freedom Bridge cost 24.8 million Estonian marks. After the bridge was destroyed in 1941 and again in 1944, it was replaced by the Iron Bridge, which stood from 1993 to 2007, and later by the new Freedom Bridge, opened on July 29, 2009. The first two new definitive issues of 2026 are dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the bridge's inauguration.
