About FIS Freeride World Cup
The FIS Freeride World Cup is the top international competition for freeride skiing and snowboarding, run by the International Ski and Snowboard Federation.
Freeride is when athletes ski or snowboard down steep, natural mountain faces (not groomed slopes). They choose their own route and are judged on control, difficulty, style, and flow.
In 2026, FIS also held the first official Freeride World Championships, making freeride an officially recognized world-title sport under FIS.
In short: it’s the highest-level global competition for big-mountain freeride athletes.
