About 50th Trumped Festival in Guca

Trumpet Festival is held every year in the first part of the August. The first Festival was held in the churchyard of St. Archangel Gabriel in Guca on October 14th 1961.

Trumpeters from across Serbia are competing for the title of the best orchestras and soloists in three categories: pioneer, youth and senior. Through the qualifications in areas of eastern, western, southern and central Serbia and Vojvodina go up to hundreds of bands, and in the finals in Guca come approximately forty.

During a five decades of the Festival guests began to arrive: orchestras, cultural and artistic societies, singing groups, soloists, painters ... from various parts of Serbia, former Yugoslavia, and since the mid-eighties from around the World. The number of participants in all Festival programs ranges over 1200, while the visitors are counted in the hundreds of thousands - including tens of thousands of foreigners.

In its content, in addition to the trumpet competition, the Festival is the overall review of national spirituality: art exhibitions, literary meetings, competition of "zdravicara" are organized and national combined events, the selection of the most beautiful national costumes, performances of folk customs, numerous concerts of trumpet player, singers, dancers ...

This year, the 50th Festival will last ten days, from 13th to 22nd August, and this anniversary shall be marked by Post Serbia and Post Srpske with this joint Commemorative issue.
