Lithuanian Hound
About Lithuanian Hound
Lithuanian hounds are a breed of hunting dogs bred in our country. Written sources state that large animals were hunted with them as early as the 16th century.
These dogs are considered extremely friendly, calm, trusting, very hardy and have a good sense of smell. They also need a lot of exercise.
Lithuanian hounds were very common in interwar Lithuania, but after the war this breed became very rare, and it was also mixed with various dogs.
In the middle of the last century, Lithuanian hounds were already on the verge of extinction, and we should thank Zigmantas Goštautas from Telšiai for the restoration of this breed.
