Red fruits have captured human attention throughout history – tasty, juicy, and strikingly colorful, they exist in countless varieties and cultures around the world. In Estonia, the cultivation of red fruits is also widespread: berry bushes and fruit trees flourish in home gardens and orchards, providing harvests and color across the landscape. This block of red fruits highlights both varieties bred in Estonia and successfully grown locally, as well as some of the world’s most famous fruits, bringing together local and global berry culture. But fruits, regardless of their color, are not a treat for humans alone. We are invited to notice that berries and fruits do not exist only in gardens or on store shelves, but are part of the entire ecosystem – connecting humans, nature, and even smaller living creatures in a delicious and colorful experience. Red fruits are shared with all, delighting the taste buds and serving as a table for the smaller inhabitants of nature.
