The Brown bear (Ursus arctos) is the largest land predator in Lithuania and one of the rarest animal species in our country. Although bears were widespread throughout Lithuania centuries ago, today they no longer live here permanently. In recent years, only isolated cases have been recorded of them returning from neighboring Belarus or Latvia.
