About World Telecommunication Day
The first International telegraphic convention, on which the International Telegraph Union was founded with the purpose of standardization and regulation of international radio frequencies and telecommunications, was held on 17 May 1865 in Paris. The union changed its name into the International Telecommunication Union in 1934 and the 17th May became the World Telecommunication Day.
