25 Years of the Central Bank of Montenegro

Since its establishment in 2001, the Central Bank of Montenegro has stood as a cornerstone of the country’s financial stability an institution whose work safeguards trust in the banking system and strengthens the security of the broader financial environment.

Over the past 25 years, the Central Bank of Montenegro has evolved into a modern institution, which has made a substantial contribution to the stability and resilience of Montenegro’s financial system through development of its regulatory and supervisory framework, advancement of payment systems and strengthening of the financial infrastructure.

Remaining steadfast in its mandate and guided by the principles of responsibility, stability and the public interest, the Central Bank of Montenegro continues to align the domestic financial system with European standards and contemporary international practices.
