EUROPA - 70th Anniversary of EUROPA

EUROPA postage stamps are special stamps issued as part of a joint issue with a common theme, and sometimes a common design, by European postal administrations under the auspices of PostEurop. The first of these issues, with Europe as the central theme, was issued in 1956, marking the symbolic beginning of European unity.EUROPA postage stamps highlight cooperation in the postal sector, as well as promoting philately.

They also raise awareness of Europe’s common roots, culture and history, as well as its shared goals.For the 70th anniversary of EUROPA stamp, all postal administrations that are members of PostEurop are issuing a stamp with a common design created by Klaus Welp (Posti Ltd, Finland), which was also the winning design in a PostEurop competition. In this competition, Montenegro Post was represented by a design created by Adela Zejnilović, a graphic designer from Podgorica, and this is featured as the second stamp in this issue.
