About 50 Years Faculty of Economics and Business Sciences, University of Seville

50 years have passed since an illusion was born on October 23, 1971, the Faculty of Economics and Business Sciences -FCEYE- of the University of Seville. This 50th Anniversary is the reason for this commemorative stamp, a great anniversary for our center.

A fundamental figure in the creation of the Faculty of Economics and Business Sciences of the University of Seville was Rector Manuel Clavero Arévalo, who in his inauguration speech in July 1971 sued, before the then Minister of Education and Science, D. José Luis Villar Palasí, the need for Seville to have a Business Faculty. This public demand was accompanied by practically the entire Sevillian society who from different areas demanded the opportunity for Seville to have a university institution focused on the teaching of Business Sciences.

Finally, in the BOE of October 23, 1971, what would be the first Faculty in Spain to be called Economics and Business Sciences, that of Seville, was contemplated. Its classes began to be taught on November 15, 1971, with only 616 students, of which only 12 were women, its first Dean-Commissioner being Dr. Manuel Olivencia Ruiz, who was accompanied by Dr. Miguel Rodríguez-Piñero y Bravo Ferrer as first Vice Dean and Mr. Miguel Sánchez Montes de Oca as Secretary.

In October 1977, the new building, the current headquarters of the Faculty, was inaugurated. During the seventies, the academic offering focused exclusively on the Business branch, expanding in the eighties with the Economics branch and in the nineties with marketing studies called Research and Market Techniques. .

Currently, there are almost 400 teachers who teach at the center, performing administration and service functions for around 70 people. More than 4,500 students study at the Faculty of Economics and Business Sciences, with the percentage of women being higher than that of men. Broad, and adapted to demand, is the academic offer made up of three Degrees, three Double Degrees, one of them international, six university Master's programs and two Doctorate programs.

It is a Faculty that stands out in international rankings, being one of the few in Spain that has institutional accreditation that guarantees the quality of its degrees.

In any case, what has most characterized our Faculty in these 50 years has been the commitment and effort of the group of men and women that make up the FCEYE community, whether they are professors, administration and service personnel, students and graduates who They have contributed to making us feel very proud of the institution we represent. This commemorative stamp is dedicated to all of them.
