201625th Anniversary of Lithuania`s Accession to UN - First Day Cover

The UN was established in 1945, at the end of the Second World War. Today, the UN members are almost all countries of the world (currently – 193 countries). The main document regulating the work of the UN is the UN Charter. The main goal of the United Nations – to maintain international peace and security and, if necessary, to take effective collective measures to prevent threats to peace, to stop acts of aggression, to resolve international disputes. UN seeks to develop friendly relations between nations and promoting international cooperation. Lithuania was accepted to the UN in 1991, on September 17.
