About 650 Years Since the Enthronement of Durad Balsic

ĐURAĐ I BALŠIĆ (1362 – 1378) He is the middle son of Balša I, the founder of the second Montenegrin dynasty. He was the ablest and most influential among the brothers. Two years earlier, his predecessor Balša I had made Zeta independent and expanded its territory to a former Doclea from the time of King Bodin of Doclea. During the reign of Đurađ I, the Balšićs became the most powerful local lords. Their country stretched from the lower river Maće in Albania to Dubrovnik, and from Lovćen to Prizren. Đurađ Balšić used the title of Lord (dominus). Montenegro Post in its edition "650 years of enthronement of Đurađ Balšić" publishes apposite edition of postage stamps, which contains a stamp and first day cover. Author of the preliminary design is Adela Zejnilović, a graphic designer from Podgorica.
