Prokletije rock lizard is considered to be a rock-endemic species and can only be found in the Prokletije region today - on the Kuči Mountains and on several sites on the Albanian side, and nowhere else in the world. It was discovered in 2007, in the vicinity of Lake Bukumir. The species is considered extremely important for the biodiversity of Montenegro. Montenegro Post Service, within the edition Fauna – Prokletije rock lizard (Dinarolacerta montenegrina), publishes a commemorative stamp and the First Day Cover. The author of the design is Zoran Popović, a graphic designer from Podgorica.
