The events depicted on the postage stamp date back to October-November 1920. At that time, the Polish army sought to occupy Lithuania. Having occupied Vilnius at the beginning, the enemy army planned to occupy Kaunas through Širvintas – Ukmergė – Kėdainiai. The Poles had already reached Kėdainiai - there were 40 km left until Kaunas, when in a narrow section, only 30 km, near Širvintos and Giedraičiai, decisive battles took place, during which the Lithuanians regained a strategically important territory.
