Aleksandar Aco Prijić, a famous Montenegrin painter, was born in Tivat on December 17, 1920. He was one of the founders (1946), secretary, and then the president of the Association of Fine Artists of Montenegro. He participated in the establishment of the Art Pavilion in Titograd, and in 1961 he founded the Modern Gallery and became its first director. He remained in the position until his retirement in 1974. He was the winner of the Thirteenth of July Award and the AVNOJ Award. He was elected an associate member of the Montenegrin Academy of Sciences and Arts (CANU) in 1985. At CANU, he was vice president, and then the president of the Department of Fine Arts.Montenegro Post, within the edition 100 years since the birth of Aco Prijić, publishes a commemorative stamp and the first day cover. The author of the conceptual design is Gordana Đurović, a graphic designer from Podgorica.
