About 175 Years of the Maritime High School in Kotor

Training in the field of seafaring and navigation has a long tradition in the Boka Kotorska Bay. Historical records of organised training date back to the 17th century.

According to the oldest printed sources, the Maritime High School in Kotor began its work on 22 April 1850. Since then, it has been restructured several times, with both its name and location changing.

The Maritime High School has produced numerous generations of successful sailors who have sailed around the world using the knowledge gained at this school.

The school has twice been awarded the Oktoih Prize for outstanding educational achievements. It currently trains about 600 students in three educational programmes.

Montenegro Post is issuing a special commemorative edition entitled 175 Years of the Maritime High School in Kotor, which includes a stamp and first day cover.
