Sports - Bozidar Stanisc Cikota
Božidar Stanišić Cikota was born in Herceg Novi in 1936. He launched his swimming and water polo career in 1951 at the Jadran Swimming & Water Polo Club. He won two national titles and the Yugoslav Cup in 1959 with his club Jadran.
He was a participant in the Olympic Games in Rome in 1960 and Tokyo in 1964, where he won a silver medal. He also took part in the 1958 European Championship held in Budapest. He mastered the so-called screw shot, which entered the water polo textbooks. As an exceptional water polo player, he was named the best athlete of FR Montenegro four times. He won the SOFKA Yugoslavia award, the title of Meritorious Athlete of Montenegro, the October Award of the City of Herceg Novi, the title of the Athlete of the Century, as well as many others.
