About Connected Tourism

Travel, holidays and getaways are always seen as an opportunity to disconnect, especially from the daily routine.

But nowadays, with the technological revolution, this disconnection has become a permanent connection.

Paradoxically, it is increasingly difficult to disconnect. We distance ourselves physically but we immerse ourselves fully in our smartphones and the online platforms they provide us with.

Disconnecting while connected should not be incompatible.

Visiting unknown cities, or seeing others with new eyes, trying restaurants, discovering museums or monuments, all thanks to connections.

Also, travelling to a place to disconnect, to forget your mobile phone, your email and to spend a few days away from your routine.

Both forms of tourism are compatible and in Spain, you can enjoy the hustle and bustle of a big city or document a day at the beach through the camera of a mobile phone, just like sitting down to read in a village in the mountains, with no other ambition than to be.

Connecting to disconnect and connecting to disconnect is possible throughout Spain.

To represent these possibilities, Correos issues two stamps, which, like every year, represent some aspect of tourism in our country.

The first one shows an illustration of a city with a monumental appearance, and in the foreground, a hand holding a mobile phone capturing a snapshot of the landscape.

The second stamp shows another illustration, in this case of a rural landscape, and in the foreground, a notebook in which someone captures what surrounds them, in this case, drawing.

Between January and October, Spain received 154% more international tourists than in 2021. It is estimated that in 2022, more than 64 million tourists will visit our country.
