About Spanish Cinema - Pilar Bardem

Daughter of actors Rafael Bardem and Matilde Muñoz-Sampedro, sister of filmmaker Juan Antonio Bardem and mother of Oscar-winning actor Javier Bardem, she was born in Seville in 1939.

Growing up accompanying her parents on tours and learning about the world of comedians, she began working at a very young age as a model for Vargas y Ochagavía, Balenciaga and Loewe and made her film debut in Fernando Fernán-Gómez's 1964 film El mundo sigue (The World Goes On), based on a novel by Juan Antonio Zunzunegui.

He thus began a prolific career in both theatre and music, as well as in television programmes, most notably in Lorca, muerte de un poeta, a series directed by his brother Juan Antonio Bardem.

She also had a role in Julio Medem's first film, Vacas.

Her great opportunity as an actress came in 1995, when the director Agustín Díaz Yanes offered her an important role in the film Nadie hablará de nosotras cuando hayamos muerto with Victoria Abril, for which she won the Goya for Best Supporting Actress.

This award was a great boost and from then on her presence in major productions grew and she was given increasingly important roles. He worked in Airbag by Juanma Bajo Ulloa, Carne trémula by Pedro Almodóvar, Sexo por compasión, winner of the Malaga Festival, Sin noticias de Dios by Agustín Díaz Yanes, Pantaleón y las visitadoras by Francisco Lombardi and Cosa de brujas by José Miguel Juárez.

At the same time, she appeared in television series such as Hermanas, Kitty no para, El inquilino and Abierto 24 horas.

In theatre, she achieved great success with her participation in plays such as 5mujeres.com, in which she recited monologues about the status of women alongside Llum Barrera, Beatriz Carvajal and Toni Acosta, with whom she was nominated for a Fotogramas de Plata award.

Her career continued adding roles to her career without neglecting other facets such as that of writer, being the author of an autobiographical work entitled La Bardem.

The stamp shows a photograph of Pilar Bardem and the premium sheet features different illustrations of the actress as different characters from several of her films.
