150th Anniversary of the Universal Postal Union

Founded in 1874 and headquartered in Bern, Switzerland, the Universal Postal Union (UPU) is the second oldest international organization in the world. The Principality Montenegro became a member of the UPU at its inception, securing equal and sovereign representation in an international institution even before its formal recognition as an independent state at the Berlin Congress in 1878.

Today, with 192 member countries, the UPU serves as the leading authority in the postal sector, facilitating cooperation among postal operators and developing a global network of modern products and services.
