About 175 Years Since the Demarcation of Austria and Montenegro

Delimitation between Montenegro and Austria was conducted in the period between 1837 and 1841. Vienna authorities did not give an official notice on the delimitation process to the Porte, instead, they treated Montenegro as an independent state. The Protocol on Delimitation of July 18, 1841 determined the Montenegrin – Austrian border in the territory of Krivošije, Boka Kotorska and Paštrovići. By signing of the agreement for determining the borders with Montenegro without mediation of Turkish authorities, the Habsburg Monarchy practically recognized the state sovereignty of Montenegro. With this act, Vienna authorities took the position that Montenegro is a fully independent state and that Turks have no power over it. The Montenegro Post is publishing a commemorative edition of postage stamps containing a stamp, a Maximum Card and a First Day envelope within the edition 175 Years from the Delimitation between Austria and Montenegro. The author of the conceptual design is Adela Zejnilović, a graphic designer from Podgorica.
